Why this matters today

It will stand as a place of reflection, education, and inspiration, helping present and future generations better understand the full and diverse story of the nation’s founding.
A city on sacred ground
Honoring Greensboro’s Revolutionary Spirit
American Major General Nathanael Greene chose to stand and fight the British at the Guilford Courthouse. The British won, but at a terrible cost.
The Battle of Guilford Courthouse shaped the course of the American Revolution, and today, Greensboro continues that legacy by honoring the Black Patriots who fought for independence.
